Improv witters

Tuesday, January 23rd, 2007

Preparing for an improv show like Improvise That! really feels like maths at some points. I’ve currently got spread out in front of me a big grid specifying game/people combinations and various game ordering constraints. Trying to find the optimal person to game allocation and game ordering whilst also making sure the same person is in consecutive games as little as possible is an interesting problem, especially since I do it on paper.

I have my system now but as I was sitting with my grid, filling in numbers, slashes and crosses I was reminded of a sudoku crossed with one of those ‘Lucy isn’t sitting next to Sarah and Lilly is 3 to the left of a vegetarian’ logic puzzles.

Comment spam

On my self-hosted blog I’ve a comment spam filter plugin and all is good. On Facebook only signed in users can comment. The spammers/random commenters now seem to have found my LJ. I don’t want to disable anonymous comments but can anyone think of a cunning technical way to run a spam filter over my comments? (or, preferably, a Perl script which does said…)

Spaaaaam!

So yeah… 11pm, ADC, tonight (23rd Jan).

Improvise That!

NO SCRIPTS. NO REHEARSALS. NO REGRETS!

Cambridge’s renowned improvised comedy society, ICE, are ready to bring you the best in hard-hitting, script-spurning, expectation-defying and logic-twisting comedy at the ADC: an hour of fast-paced improvised games, directed entirely by audience suggestion.

Following last term’s ‘Improvise This’ Improvised Comedy Ents are back to take the ADC by storm once more. Described by TCS as ‘a force to be reckoned with’ and Varsity as ‘gut-wrenchingly funny’, ICE combine audience participation and genuine humour with a reckless disregard for scripts and other nonsense like that.

GET READY…TO IMPROVISE THAT.
