This fortnight has been busy what with meetings with PhD supervisor about finishing off the thesis and working hard at, well, work. The stuff I’m doing at work is turning very exciting. Basically we’re working on real-time radiosity (as readers of my personal web-site will have seen) or at least something which is similar to it and we’re making pretty good progress. Currently I’m battling with a foggy head to try and convert our 20fps software implementation (inner loop == read from a load of textures, mix with special sauce and output to another) to a ~150fps GPU one (inner loop being much the same). Unfortunately my brain is imploding and refusing to co-operate today. Also we need to do a tiny bit of data compression magic before it is usable in a real game.
All this busyness means I’m looking forward to Carlton-ing tonight and especially looking forward to sitting down with a pint, letting conversation flow over me and generally letting the brain rest. Of course that wont happen, I’ll get interested in something and end up thinking again :).
