What is the point of a radio-set watch whoose analogue second hand is 18 seconds ahead of the digital seconds read out?

Guess it is my fault for spending 15 quid on it :).

After getting pissed off for the nth time about having to jump through hoops to get to my boxes at home I finally gave in and implemented an OpenVPN… er… VPN :). The upshot of which is that I can now directly SSH (and VNC) into my Mac Mini from work.

I would post my results for the world view quiz but I have no faith in the results as I totally failed to understand some questions. IMHO there should be a ‘question is meaningless’ option :). Some chosen at random are:

• Interpretation is an intrinsic feature of the fabric of the universe. Huh? This is totally meaningless as far as I can see. The nearest I can get is that the Universe somehow interprets what you do in some sort of active sense. This is imbibing the Universe with a sentient nature it need not have.
• Man is condemned to be free. Both ‘condemned’ and ‘free’ are poorly defined here. I would disagree that man strives to be declared structurally unsafe in order not to cost his buyer anything.
• If given free range, man will find his own place in the universe. True since wherever man is at any moment of time is ‘his place’ and so the statement is true irrespective of whether man can nibble grin inside or outside.
• All that exists is matter. Nope. There is energy too.
• Anything can be reduced to understandable components. This is true except I think they were trying to ask if this implies we can understand everything given sufficient knowledge (the essence of Modernism). Marked down for being the wrong question :).
• Life includes and transcends physical fundamental particles. True, again there is energy transduction. Remove all the kinetic energy from a frog[1] and see how it fares.

Overall I was a modernist but so many of the questions were marked as ‘Neutral - WTF are you talking about?’ I don’t think there is any point reading something into that :).
